Astronaut Farmer
On October 12th of 2005 I spent one long day on the set of Astronaut Farmer with Billy Bob Thornton. We had to report to set late in the morning, and we worked until very early the next morning. The set was at the Santa Fe fairgrounds, where they had transformed it into the fairground at Story, Texas. It was supposed to be a warm summer night in Texas, but if you've even been to Santa Fe, New Mexico in October, you know how darn cold it can be. And the wind was really blowing! But we hung in there, and filmed all night. I just couldn't get any placements, and knew that the camera had never even seen me. It came time for the slow dance scene on the dance floor, and the AD was walking around saying "I need some couples out there dancing!" Now Nathan, Joseph and I had been checking out this really pretty girl all night, and when the AD was calling for dancers, I went over this this little girl and said, "Do you want to be in this movie? Well, I do, so come and dance with me!" And we danced! Heck, I'll admit it. I'll use any excuse to dance with a pretty girl.
Ok, so you have to look really hard, but there I am on the far left, facing the camera, in my dark brown leather cowboy hat.
In this one I'm just to the right of the white pole on the left side of the screen. Just beyond the hatless guy in the white shirt.
And that's all you see of me in Astronaut Farmer. Oh well, at least I was there. Here's a fun fact, Farmer's house in this picture, and the barn he built his rocket in, can be seen in my Comanche Moon photos. Same set, different day!
