On this page is a collection of photos taken from the set of Comanche Moon.  Comanche Moon is a prequel to the Lonesome Dove mini-series covering the years between Dead Man's Walk and Lonesome Dove.  When the series finally aired on CBS in January of '08, it had been approximately 1 and 1/2 years since we filmed.  We really enjoyed the series and now we want to go back and watch Lonesome Dove again.

I can't help but be partial to this shot snagged from my DVR.  That's me on the right, with my good friend Brian on the left.

3 of the townspeople, and a really cool Stage Coach

3 more of the townsmen

3 fine young Ladies by the pond behind the boarding house.

One of the town "Dudes".  Didn't have to work much, just stood or walked around looking "official".

Posing in front of the Bank Building

L to R, 1st Assistant Director Bob Donaldson, and Director Simon Wincer.  These guys were not only really cool about bringing a camera onto set, they were just tickled to pose for me.

Sometimes the wait between shots was really long, and some guys would catch naps whenever they could.  Sawing logs Brian?

This is the front of the Texas State House at the East end of Main St.  Quite impressive looking, and BIG.

And then you walk around behind, - - - - - -

One of the town drunks at his favorite location.  This saloon was also just a fake front, like the State House and the Mansion, but the set builders did a heck of a job making it look real. You gotta love that name, Frick & Lovato.

A large group of the "Frontiersmen" types.  This is before the Comanche Raid, because the General store and the Funeral Home/Furniture Maker's place are still standing.  They get torched!!!

General Store before raid.  This was not a facade, but a pretty elaborate building

Well, it WAS anyway.

The Skull Mansion, still under construction.  This was another facade, but looked great!

This used to be the Meat Market.

The view from the top of the steps at the State House.  At the other end of town is the Cemetery, Oakwood.

Here's an interesting wide shot from the same vantage point.

Duck pond behind the Bullock House.

What the Comanche's didn't destroy, the high winds took care of.  We came back on set to find that the Bank building had been nearly blown down.  Repairs are under way, and the shooting schedule was revised to work around the repairs.

9 of us hamming it up in front of the drug store.

Looking up into Oakwood Cemetery.  Some really cool scenes filmed up here.

This is my friend and neighbor Tony with his Grandparents.  This poor guy gets scalped, and survives!  I was a little disappointed that Tony's big scene must have landed on the cutting room floor  because make-up did a fantastic job of making him look like he really had been scalped.

This is Me with Christine and Christine, hamming it up on the boat dock behind the Bullock house.

3 of the girls clowning around back at base camp after lunch.

Setting up a shot with wagons in the street.

Just hanging around in front of the Saloon, waiting for work.

Notice the Drug Store?  It was just one of the buildings that would disappear, and then re-appear during the 6 weeks we spent shooting.  The filming schedule wasn't really chronological.

Any chance to get my photo taken with a pretty girl!!!!

And there were lots of pretty girls!

I'm so bad.

One of those particularly raunchy looking Frontiersman types.  I spent the last several days of filming in these buckskins, but I was never able to spot myself as this character in the final edit that was aired.  Oh well, that's the way it goes.

Now that you've enjoyed all of the funny pictures, why not take a few seconds to relax to the beautiful, etherial music of one of my enchanting Aeolian (wind) harps.  Make sure your speakers are turned on, and then click here to listen to a sample of beautiful music created by nothing but the wind.
