An Aeolian Harp in the Recording Studio

The harp above was made of beautiful African Mahogany and Yellow Poplar.  I chose this piece of Poplar because it was streaked with gorgeous tones of browns, grays, greens and reds.  The harp measures 32 inches long, and sings wonderfully in the slightest breezes.  This photo fails to show the wonderful colors, but it does give a hint to the glass-like quality of the finish on this harp.

In January of '06 this harp was purchased by the famous Italian recording artist "Oreobambo".  I was informed that he plans to use the sound of this harp in his next CD production.  A tour through his web site, www.oreobambo.com revealed that he has at least 9 previous CD recordings available, as well as a variety of other offerings.

We can't wait for his next CD release, and to hear what he does with the sound of this beautiful instrument.  I will certainly obtain a copy of the recording, and will post information about it here as soon as it is available.

Good Luck Oreobambo!

EXCITING UPDATE!!!

On May 7th of 2007, I received a copy of Oreobambo's newest CD release, "Energy Journeys".  This is a beautifully produced 3 disk set of original music by the master musician/composer.  On disk 2, track 3, is approximately 5 minutes of nothing but the sound of the harp I built for Oreobambo, recorded on the Aeolian Islands, with the sound of the surf pounding on the rocks in the background.  The harp obviously performed beautifully, and the track is 5 minutes of pure magic.  I find it hard to express the joy and pride I feel in the knowledge that I had some small part in the creation of this wonderful composition of beautifully ethereal music.  My most heartfelt congratulations go out to Oreobambo and all the other talented musicians who put this wonderful composition together.
